This year, the UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Week presented the theme “2021 on the Youth Agenda”. In this regard, a scientific and practical seminar “Media and information literacy of youth for the benefit of society” will be held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University at the Department of Press and Electronic Media of the Faculty of Journalism.

During the event, an audiobook “Journalism, Fake News and false information” prepared by students of the Department of Print and Electronic Media of the Faculty of Journalism will be presented.

The purpose of the seminar is to emphasize the importance of ensuring the participation of young people in programs, initiatives and events on media and information literacy, as well as to encourage young people to create and disseminate knowledge and resources on media and information literacy.

In this regard, the Department of Print and Electronic Media invites you to this seminar.

Event format: The seminar will be held in a mixed format (offline + online) under the auspices of the UNESCO Office in Almaty. The seminar will be attended by professional speakers with significant experience in the field of media and information communications.

Reference: The UNESCO World Organization annually holds the “Global Week of Media and Information Literacy”. The year 2021 will be on the youth agenda. UNESCO provides young people with access to information and media content, opportunities to verify it and use technology. Young people can become leaders in the development and popularization of media and information literacy, improving their rights and opportunities. Together with the older generation, the media and information literacy of young people can contribute to a bright future.
