Frequently asked Questions
How to get the online services “Book Order” and “Online reference”?
To order books first of all, you need to check the availability of the desired book in the electronic catalog. If the book is available in our fund, you must go to the online order section on the website and place an order according to the instructions. Online reference allows you to get bibliographic, bio-bibliographic and other library references anywhere with Internet access.
What is the penalty for losing a book?
If a library book is lost or damaged, the user is obliged to compensate for the damage caused:
1. By a similar book;
2. A publication recognized by the library as equivalent to a lost book (a list of recommended books for replacement);
3. Payment of the market value of the lost publication.
Can a non-student / non-employee of KazNU al-Farabi visit the library?
Third-party users and legal entities, except for students and employees of other universities, can use the services of the Library on a paid-contractual basis, after signing an agreement between Al-Farabi KazNU and the organization concerned.
After the conclusion of the relevant agreement, employees and students of third-party organizations are served in all reading rooms (with the exception of circulation services, dissertation fund, rare editions and manuscripts fund).
Is there Internet in the library?
Yes, you can use the free Wi-Fi connection in the library building.
What is a full-text database?
This is a database of our own library generation, where digital versions of the books of our fund are available for review.
If I am not a student or employee of al-Farabi KazNU, can I request and borrow books at home?
Our main task as a scientific library of the university is to provide educational and scientific literature primarily to students and teachers of KazNU. Therefore, books can not be issued to our third-party users. However, third-party users can use the literature they need in the library reading rooms or read them in an electronic version on any device connected to the Internet in the library building.
