Over the past 10 years, Kazakhstan has been actively participating in the world scientific community, conducting scientific research, the results of which are published in international conferences and journals indexed in various scientometric databases (Scopus, Web of Science, Elsevier, PubMed, and others), some of which are already taken at the national level as criteria for evaluating the scientific effectiveness of researchers. So to get a PhD, a doctoral student of al-Farabi Kazakh National University is required to publish a scientific article on the topic of the dissertation in journals indexed in the Scopus database (read more here).
How do I choose the indexed journal Scopus and Web of Science to publish my article?
Most often, a researcher prepares an article and selects a journal for it, but in any training session, you will be told that you must first select a journal. We have compiled for you a list of recommendations from managers and lecturers of well-known databases, in which you will learn how to choose a journal in Scopus and Web of Science or other databases.
- Make a list of available journals in your subject area and review the type of articles published in them.
- Make sure that the goals of the journals match the goals of your research.
- Check for standard articles published by journals.
- Then make a final list of journals and select a journal that meets all your criteria. Choosing the right journal is important to ensure that your work is published. Often papers are rejected due to the fact that the research topic is outside the scope of the journal or is aimed at a different target audience.
