At the Al-Farabi Library, in honor of Abai Day — August 10 — and to mark the 180th anniversary of the great thinker, an international scientific and practical conference titled “Adamzattyń Abaı” (“Abai — Heritage of Humanity”) was held.
The Abai Research Institute at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, in cooperation with the Farabi Library, organized the international scientific and practical conference “Adamzattyń Abaı” as part of the celebration of the 180th anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly — a great thinker of global stature.
The significant event brought together domestic and foreign Abai scholars, literary critics, representatives of research institutes, doctoral and master’s students from universities, as well as members of the media.
The event began with a book exhibition organized by the Abai Research Institute at KazNU in cooperation with the Al-Farabi Library.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Member of the Board – Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities of KazNU, Margulan Ibraimov, emphasized the importance of Abai’s spiritual heritage and spoke about the scientific and cultural events held at the university. The Vice-Rector stressed that the university had thoroughly prepared for the anniversary of the great poet and implemented a number of important projects.
The Director of the Abai Institute at KazNU, Professor Zhangara Dadebayev, gave a detailed account of the results of research in the field of Abai studies. He provided an in-depth analysis of the poet’s spiritual, historical, and literary legacy, and presented new publications prepared for Abai’s 180th anniversary: the scholarly monograph Adamzattyń Abaıy, the scholarly and informational collection Abaı Instituty, the research work Abaı jáne Taken, and Zhangara Dadebayev’s own work Qazaq Ádebıetınıń Tarıhy. As the scholar noted, these publications were issued by the “Qazaq Universiteti” publishing house.
Speaking at the ceremonial meeting, Library Director Zhadyra Aydyngaliyevna particularly emphasized the spiritual significance and inexhaustible value of the legacy of the great poet and thinker. She noted that Abai’s works are a powerful moral compass and a source of wisdom, playing a vital role in shaping the worldview and educating the younger generation.
