At the Department of Plasma Physics, Nanotechnology, and Computer Physics of the Faculty of Physics and Technology at al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a ceremonial opening of a lecture hall and an educational laboratory was held in honor of the 90th anniversary of the distinguished scientist, Professor Kenes Zhumanov, who dedicated his life to the development of physics education and science.
From 1954 to 1959, Kenes Zhumanov studied at the Faculty of Physics of S. M. Kirov Kazakh State University. He began his professional career at his alma mater, where he worked productively for many years in the fields of optics and plasma physics. The scientist is the author of around 50 scientific and educational works, including textbooks and electronic educational resources. His scientific and pedagogical legacy has made a significant contribution to the development of national physical science and the higher education system.
The ceremonial event was attended by Member of the Board and Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of KazNU Margulan Ibraimov, faculty members of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, representatives of the Physical Society of Kazakhstan, the юбиляр — Professor Kenes Zhumanov himself, as well as university students. To mark the anniversary, a book exhibition was organized from the collection of the al-Farabi Library, featuring the professor’s scientific and educational works, including textbooks, teaching aids, and research articles.
As part of the event, the renovated lecture halls, the educational laboratory “Atomic Physics and Nanotechnology,” and a modern student co-working space were presented. The presentation of the faculty’s educational and infrastructural capabilities was delivered by Nurzada Beisen, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology.
