Great teacher of nations

On September 5, 2022, as part of the events dedicated to the Day of the Languages ​​of the Peoples of Kazakhstan, the al-Farabi Kazakh Assembly hosted a week “To the 150th anniversary of the Teacher of the Nation Akhmet Baitursynov, with which the al-Farabi Library received an information and book exhibition.

Purpose of the exhibition:

1) to reveal the great potential of the Kazakh language as a modern state language and the language of interethnic communication by getting acquainted with the highly developed Turkic language, which is the basis of the Kazakh language, and its message, dating back to ancient written monuments.

2) By getting acquainted with the fundamental works of domestic linguists, contributing to the education of the population to the state language and its Great Britain.

3) To acquaint visitors of the exhibition with educational, scientific literature from the library of the fund on the history of the Turkic languages, Kazakh linguistics, language issues.

The exposition includes more than 200 documents required for the study of the modern Kazakh language, linguistics, language policy in Kazakhstan, including rare and valuable books and manuscripts, as well as dissertations protected in access on topical issues of the Kazakh language

Exhibition section:

SECTION 1: (Great Teacher of the Nation) All Kazakhstanis celebrate the Day of Languages ​​on September 5, the birthday of the scientist who created the Kazakh alphabet. This section is devoted to the life and work of the great teacher Akhmet Baitursynov. Akhmet Baitursynov is a scientist, the founder of Kazakh linguistics and literary criticism, a Kazakh poet, Turkologist, publicist, teacher, translator, public figure. He is a reformer who created the national alphabet in the history of Kazakh science, proposed a new orthography, a new writing model (tote zhazhu) based on Arabic script.
SECTION 2: (A great personality who dedicated his life to his people) In this section of the exhibition, Baitursynov’s scientific works and books published in different years are exhibited. Particular attention was drawn to a rare book – “Alippesi” (“ABC” by Akhmet Baitursynov, published in 1926. The work consisted of 116 pages, 128 illustrations were used. In 1927, the second edition of “Alip-bidin (Zhana құral)” was published in the publishing houses of the city of Kyzylorda and Tashkent, and in 1928 the publishing house of Kyzylorda issued the third edition of “Alippe” with a circulation of 20,000 copies. Description of Kazakh manuscripts”), published by the publishing house “Yylm” in 1975-2017.Another multi-volume book – “Kazakh kolzhazbalary” (“Kazakh Manuscripts”) (2011-2013) – contains handwritten texts of samples of Kazakh literature. Also in this section of the exhibition there is a collection of dissertations defended at the university since 1949 on topical issues of the Kazakh language and the history of the Kazakh language.
SECTION 3: (Problems of Kazakh language studies) A significant part of the exposition is devoted to private Kazakh linguistics, an actual problem of the Kazakh language. The scientific works of domestic linguists I. Kenesbaev, S. Isaev, R. Syzdykova, I. Mamanova and others are posted here.
SECTION 4: Kazakh language – state language. In this part of the exhibition, dedicated to the problems, problems and current problems of the Kazakh language as the state language, including the transition to the Latin alphabet, the language policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there are books (“The state language is the basis of national identity”) (“Independent Kazakhstan: the social role of the Kazakh language”) and others.
SECTION 5: Proceedings of the faculty. The last section of the exhibition included the works of the faculty of the philological faculty of KazNU. al-Farabi.
