Omirbek Arslanovich Zholdasbekov is a Soviet and Kazakhstani mechanical scientist, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR, Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR, statesman and public figure. Member of the CPSU since 1958.
Zholdasbekov developed the foundations of the graphic-analytical and analytical theory of flat and spatial mechanisms and manipulation devices of high classes with one and many degrees of freedom, with an absolute and relative law of motion of the input link, with and without taking into account the elasticity of the links, on the basis of which fundamentally new lifting, loading – unloading, clamshell, load-handling and handling devices.
In memory of Omirbek Zholdasbekov, memorial plaques were installed in Alma-Ata in the house where he lived at 162 D. Kunaev Street, and on the building of the administration of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University
