The al-Farabi Library hosted a scientific and practical conference “Topical issues of the history of the Fatherland during the period of Independence”, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the birth of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Kuanyshbek Suleimenovich Karazhan.
Kuanyshbek Suleymenuly Karazhan was born on January 27, 1947 in the village of Usharal, Talas district, Zhambyl region (State farm Talas Karakol). In 1965 he graduated from an 11-year school in this village. Graduated from the Faculty of History of the Kazakh National University (1973). 1973-82 Kazakh national tech. teacher of the Kazakh National University, since 1982 – Associate Professor of the Kazakh National University, from 1982-91 – Head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan, from 1992-2001 – Dean of the Faculty of History (1991-93), since 2001 – Head of the Department sources and historiography.
In connection with this event, the Al-Farabi Library organized an informational and documentary exhibition.

A brief overview of the exhibition
Kuanyshbek Karazhan – scientist, teacher, professor. It is devoted to topical issues of the history of Kazakhstan, the consequences of Soviet collectivization and repression, achievements and consequences of the acquisition of Virgin and fallow lands. He also conducted a study of the deaf batyr, who was distinguished by special courage in the struggle of the Kazakhs against the Dzungarian invasion.
A teacher who glorified his people. Kuanyshbek Suleimenuly’s works cover a wide variety of areas. He is the author of more than 90 scientific 16 studies, textbooks, articles and manuals. Among them are 2 monographs, 6 textbooks for students of higher educational institutions.
In the flow of history. The main subject of history is the human spirit, so it should be noted that the purpose of history is not only to inform people about the past, but also to form their spiritual world. History is a science that is constantly evolving. Without knowing the past, it is impossible to assess the present and future, historical literacy and activity of citizens are of great importance for the development of society in the right direction.
