Recently, not only Kazakhstani, but also the world media began to write about Alla Ilchun, who was called the oriental pearl by the famous couturier Christian Dior and other trendsetters of the fashion world. True, many are interested in how a Kazakh girl got into this world, who conquered the world catwalk at a time when Kazakhstanis did not yet know about the international world of fashion. Who is Alla Ilchun (Elshin)? How did she get into the famous Christian Dior fashion house? Why did we find out about this only now, after so much time? All this can be read in the books “Alla – the oriental pearl of DIOR” (in French) and “Muse of Dior” (in Russian), the presentation of which will take place today in the Library named after al-Farabi KazNU named after al-Farabi. The author of the books is our compatriot Berlin Irishev, who lived in France for many years and headed the Association of Kazakhstanis in this country.

Results of the exhibition: familiarization of visitors with a book about a Kazakh girl Alla Ilchun, who conquered the catwalks of France, which is considered the birthplace of fashion; with the literature on national art and culture available in the library, including on the history of national dress, on the history of costume; acquaintance of the general public with rare books in French from the collection of rare editions and manuscripts of the library.
