The Department of Acquisition and Service Support manages 3 complex processes: the formation of the library fund, storage of the library fund, management of the use of the library fund. Our task is to form the structure and volume of the book fund of the Library. al-Farabi, in accordance with the information needs of users, to expand the volume of information documents, taking into account areas of research and educational programs. Our current goal is to automate the process of collecting and ordering literature, developing interaction between librarians and teachers. Work closely with educators to advise on which books and study guides to choose in a specialty.
The library, in turn, organizes work on ordering, delivery, processing, optimal placement and prompt delivery of books. Currently, the Department employs seven people. Documents entering the library (books, periodicals, e-books, dissertations, etc.) are immediately sent to our management and go through the entire technological process of processing the publication. Management staff processes each received document in accordance with library standards, i.e. they are distributed according to the sections of science, they put a code, an inventory number, these data are entered together with a bibliographic description of the document in an electronic catalog. After that, the document (book, magazine, newspaper) is sent to the appropriate library fund (reading room, subscription, periodicals room, etc.). Literature for the fund of the fund and service support of the library comes from various sources. Then we regularly purchase new documents every year by subscription to periodicals; We supplement publications received as a gift (free gifts from individuals, authors, faculty of the university, within the framework of government programs, various firms, publishing houses, limited liability partnership, charitable organizations and other organizations) with scheduled publications from the Kazakh University publishing house. In addition, each faculty fulfills orders in accordance with its curriculum. We study all orders, compare them with the available literature and make a list of references for the general order.
