A series of events dedicated to National Book Day and Librarian Day took place at the Library of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The rich and engaging program aimed to promote reading, develop a reading culture, and strengthen the role of the modern library.
The events began with an insightful meeting with Khamit Yerdekhan, the founder of the “KitapKhan” project. During an open dialogue with students, the guest shared his views on the importance of reading and its impact on personal development. The meeting became a powerful source of motivation and inspiration for young people.
The book exhibition “Reviving Forgotten Books” allowed visitors to rediscover meaningful works that had been unjustly overlooked over time. Readers had the opportunity to explore rare and significant publications more closely.
Positive results were demonstrated by the campaign “Don’t Forget, Reader!”, which allowed users to return overdue books without penalties. This initiative contributed to replenishing the library collection and increasing readers’ sense of responsibility.
A special impression was made by the экскурсия “Rare Books Preserving the Secrets of Centuries,” held on April 23. Participants became acquainted with the collection of rare and valuable books and manuscripts named after Academician A. Derbisali, gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of historical and cultural heritage.
The intellectual game “KitapQuest” helped develop logical thinking and increased young people’s interest in books and culture. Participants showed high levels of engagement, demonstrating knowledge and ingenuity.
The mobile exhibition “New Book – New Opportunities,” held throughout the week, presented new acquisitions across faculties and contributed to broadening readers’ horizons.
The events once again confirmed that the library is not only a center of knowledge but also an important spiritual and cultural space. An increase in interest in reading, greater respect for the work of librarians, and high reader engagement were noted.
