At the Library of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a meaningful and informative meeting was held, dedicated to National Book Day and Librarians’ Day. The honored guest of the event was Khamit Yerdekhan, chief resident of the “KitapKhan” project, a well-known host, and the 2009–2010 vice-champion of the Zhaidarman Premier League.
The main purpose of the meeting was to promote a reading culture among young people and to support creative development.
During the event, the guest shared his life journey and professional experience.
The meeting was held in a free format, giving students and participants the opportunity to communicate directly with the guest. During the open dialogue, the impact of reading on personal development and its importance in broadening one’s horizons were widely discussed.
Special attention was given to the significance of reading in a person’s life. It was emphasized that a book is not merely a source of information, but also a key tool for shaping worldview, developing critical thinking, and enriching one’s spiritual life. Participants were encouraged to understand that regular reading helps achieve new heights in personal growth and serves as a reliable guide in life.
In addition, the importance of knowing one’s own history and national roots was highlighted. It was noted that understanding the past is the foundation for navigating the future correctly, and that preserving national values and cultural heritage is impossible without turning to history. In this context, the role of books as a key source in forming historical consciousness, as well as the importance of literary and documentary sources, was particularly emphasized.
At the end of the event, the Director of the Al-Farabi Library, Zh. Arekenova, expressed sincere gratitude to the guest and presented him with a letter of appreciation and commemorative gifts on behalf of the library.
This meeting became an important cultural platform aimed at promoting books and knowledge, as well as inspiring young people toward new ideas and creative exploration.
