Zhyr Alygy – Zhambyl

An event titled “Zhyr Alygy – Zhambyl” was held at the college of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to commemorate the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet, zhyrau, and master of the aitys tradition, known as the “Homer of the 20th century” — Zhambyl Zhabayev.

As part of the event, the teacher of Kazakh language and literature, Altyn Shakirzhanovna Asembaeva, delivered an informative report titled “Zhambyl – The Peak of Kazakh Poetry.” In her presentation, she provided a scholarly analysis of the artistic and ideological features of the poet’s works.

The purpose of the event was to introduce young people more deeply to the life and creative legacy of Zhambyl Zhabayev, to increase respect for national literature, and to promote spiritual and cultural values.

During the event, college students recited Zhambyl Zhabayev’s poems and demonstrated their skills in expressive reading. Musical performances were also presented: traditional kui pieces were played on the dombra, and poetic recitations accompanied by the zhetygen were performed.

This meaningful event aimed to foster national awareness among the younger generation and to promote spiritual values.

A book exhibition was also organized, where the poet’s works and research dedicated to his legacy were presented.

The exhibition featured the following books:
Selected Works of Zhambyl Zhabayev” (Volumes 1 and 2), “Word about Zhambyl,” “Zhapanğa Bitken Baiterek,” “Zhyr Marzhan,” “Shäkirt Balalarğa,” “Sons of Great Turan,” “Eltutqa,” as well as volumes of the “Kazakhstan National Encyclopedia.” Multi-volume collections and books about the poet’s life were also displayed.
