A poetic evening celebrating the 95th anniversary of Mukagali Makataev

A poetry evening titled “Today Is My Birthday, Oh My!” was held at the al-Farabi Library to mark the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Kazakh poet and classic of national poetry, Mukagali Makataev, as well as the second anniversary of the founding of the Farab Readers’ Club, which operates under the library.

As part of the event, members of the Farab Readers’ Club and student activists recited the poet’s works, distinguished by their depth of philosophical reflection and lyrical expressiveness. In particular, well-known poems by Mukagali Makataev such as “Poetry,” “Happiness,” “Let Me Leave a Written Plea,” and others were performed.

A special place in the program was given to musical performances. Popular songs based on the poet’s verses were performed, including “Your Eyes,” “You Are Beautiful,” “What Happiness Means,” and others. In addition, participants presented theatrical performances based on episodes from the life and creative journey of Mukagali Makataev, which made a vivid impression on the audience.

In the final part of the evening, audience members voluntarily recited the poet’s poems, demonstrating a strong interest in his work and showcasing their artistic and performance skills. Invited guests delivered congratulatory speeches, expressed warm wishes, and shared their impressions of the poetry evening.

The poetry evening, organized in an original and meaningful format, was conducted at a high organizational level and received positive feedback from both participants and guests.
