Al-Farabi Library hosted an event dedicated to the development of inclusive communication ethics.
On 10 November 2025, the Al-Farabi Library hosted an event on the topic of ‘Developing the ethics of inclusive communication’, organised by the university’s scientific and practical centre ‘Inclusive Environment’. The participants were students from KazNU.
The aim of the event was to foster a culture of respectful, attentive and tolerant attitudes towards people with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as to develop the ethics of interaction in an inclusive environment.
The speaker was a representative of the ITeachMe Competence Development Centre Public Foundation, who spoke about the importance of inclusive education and modern approaches to creating an accessible environment in society and educational organisations.
As part of the event, the Kazakh Society of the Blind (KSB) donated 270 copies of five books* printed in Braille to the Al-Farabi Library. The books are intended for blind and visually impaired users and were produced in the KSB’s specialised printing house.
Earlier, in early 2025, the Kazakh Society of the Blind received a grant from the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) to produce books in accessible formats, including Braille editions and digital versions for universities. The copies delivered to the library are the first of 50 publications covering all university faculties. These textbooks were sent by the Al-Farabi Library for production in Braille as part of the cooperation between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Kazakh Society of the Blind.
The Al-Farabi Library continues to develop an inclusive environment and introduce services that provide equal access to knowledge and educational resources for all categories of users.
