The Constitution is the main law of every state. The first Constitution of independent Kazakhstan was adopted on January 28, 1993. However, he did not meet the requirements of society, as he adhered to the old administrative rules. Therefore, two years later, on August 30, 1995, a new Constitution was adopted on the basis of a national referendum in the country.
In 28 years, the Constitution has amended the law six times: 1998, 2007, 2011, 2017, 2019 and in 2022. The most ambitious changes were adopted in 2022 on the basis of a national referendum. Kazakhstan has moved from a super-presidential form of government to a presidential form with a strong parliament. The system of electing members of Parliament has also changed. A Constitutional Court has been established in the country. The death penalty was banned. The earth and its subsoil, water sources, flora and fauna, and other natural resources now belong to the population.
Our Constitution overcame a long and difficult path of transformation before it appeared before the citizens in its usual form today. Next year she will be 30 years old, she is only a little younger than independence itself.
