The Al-Farabi Library hosted an international scientific and practical conference of the Faculty of Journalism of the KazNU on the topic: “FACULTY OF JOURNALISM IN THE PROCESS OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT”.
The Faculty of Journalism is one of the first faculties established in 1934 since the opening of the Kazakh State University. The faculty includes 3 departments: print and electronic media; UNESCO, international journalism and social media; publishing, editing and design art. Special department of the faculty – Teleradiocomplex named after. M. Barmankulova, Channel “Al-Farabi”, Radio “Al-Farabi”, Photolaboratory. Currently, more than 800 students, undergraduates and graduate students are studying journalism.
In connection with this event, the Library. Al-Farabi organized a book exhibition.

The purpose of the exhibition: to familiarize the participants of the conference, students, undergraduates with books related to journalism in the library’s funds

Zhurnalistika – alyp muhit. Journalism is the link between the government and the people. The golden bridge connecting the two sides. Journalism is a complex field. In general, the concept of “journalism” can be described as “the creative processing of current events and topical problems in society and their dissemination through the media (television, print, Internet, radio).” The category of journalism is also determined by the type of technology and equipment used in processing and dissemination of information. This section of the exhibition includes the 3-volume “Kazakh Journalism”, books by N. Omashev, Kozybaev, Barmankulov, Kozhakeev, Waidin, Kenzhalin, Idrisov and other luminaries of journalism.

Bukaralyk akparat kuraldary. Mass media are social institutions for public communication of various information to any person with the help of special technical means. Although the media have no real place in the institution of power, their place in the political process can hardly be overestimated. Today, with the advent of electronic media, this social institution has radically transformed all aspects of modern society, the relationship of political power.
