The Al-Farabi Library hosted the grand opening of a thematic week dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Kazakhstan and the 175th anniversary of the birth of Zhambyl Zhabayev.
The event began with the visiting exhibition “The World of Zhambyl” of the Al-Farabi library and the museums of Zhambyl and Suyunbay, which displays works, books and paintings of the poet.
Zhambyl Zhabaev is a great poet, zhyrau, zhyrshy. From childhood, he grew up in a poem and, like Suyunbay Aronovich, studied at ZhYr Avenue. In addition, Dzhambul was fluent in the art of speech in his native Kyrgyzstan and performed with such types of art as Toktogul, Murataly, Alimkul, Balyk, Tynybek, Katagan. He spent eighty-five years of his life in poetry.
His aityses are an art that made Zhambyl a real poet. In these aitys, Zhambyl showed himself to be a master of words, a witty, witty speaker. During the years of the Soviet era, Zhambyl sang the life of society and the interests of the country. He revived the traditions of the ancient great zhyraus, enriched our age with a new quality and content. In his addresses to heads of state and party leaders, he raised nationwide issues.
Zhambyl is a great master of zhyrshylyk art. His best works have been translated into more than forty foreign languages. Such well-known artists as Romain Rolland, Katarina Susanna Prichard highly appreciated Zhambul poetry. Poems have been written about Zhambyl. Zhambyl’s influence on folk poets of the 20th century was enormous.

In connection with this event, the Al-Farabi Library organized an information and documentary exhibition on the topic: “The World of Zhambyl”, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Zhambyl akyn.
The legacy of the poet, left by Kazakh literature, is of interest to a wide range of readers. This exhibition introduces readers to publications related to the Zhambyl poet from the fund of the Al-Farabi library.

Жамбыл Жабаев – қазақ халқының ұлы ақыны
Zhambyl is a humanist poet, a planetary figure, a poet of peoples’ friendship. The section of the exhibition dedicated to the work of the poet Zhambyl presents Dzhambul’s book “Favorite Songs”, published in Moscow in 1948 in two volumes. Dzhabaev’s book “My Motherland”, published in Almaty in 1987, and other publications are presented to the attention of readers.

Among the books that complement the section of the exhibition dedicated to the works of Zhambyl Zhabaev, one can single out the book “Poems. Aitysy. Saga”, “people are my real name”, “Song of happiness”.

Publications about the Zhambyl poet are collected in the first part of the exhibition. Here readers will be able to see the collection of U. Kalizhanov “Zhambyl”, the monograph by E. Ismailov “Akyns”, a monograph about the work of Zhambyl and other akyns”.

In the section of the exhibition dedicated to the work of Zhambyl, we see the book “The work of Zhambyl Zhabaev”, published in 1989 in Almaty. The study, popularization of the rich heritage of the Zhuz poet goes beyond literary criticism, glorifying the Kazakh people and in the expanses of culture and civilization of mankind.
