A training seminar on working with scientific databases was held at the al-Farabi Library
On October 15 and 17, 2025, the al-Farabi Library hosted a training seminar on “Practical work with the Mendeley program, the Scopus database and the SciVal analytical tool”, organized for researchers, teachers and doctoral students of the university.
The purpose of the event was to develop effective skills in working with international scientific databases, managing research results and using analytical tools to evaluate scientific activities.
During the seminar, the participants:
• mastered the methods of creating and systematizing bibliographic data at Mendeley;
• we got acquainted with the possibilities of searching, analyzing and working with indicators in the Scopus database;
• In practice, we studied the methods of analyzing the scientific potential of the university using the SciVal tool.
Rabiga Kozhamkul, Consultant for Central Asia at Informascope, was the speaker of the seminar. She shared her experience and practical recommendations on improving the effectiveness of research activities, as well as presented modern approaches to evaluating scientific results.
At the end of the event, the participants received answers to their questions and useful tips on using modern information and analytical systems in scientific work.
