Central Asian University Rectors’ Forum

The First International Forum of Rectors of Central Asian countries was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, attended by Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov, Chairman of the Board — Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, as well as ministers and rectors of Central Asian countries.

Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov in his welcoming speech focused on the achievements in the development of higher education in Kazakhstan. According to the Minister, today 14 universities are included in the world rankings. The country is an active participant in the Bologna process. The register of educational programs has been significantly expanded, which universities are currently developing in response to employers’ requests, which has a positive effect on the practice orientation of higher education. “We have carried out a reform and provided academic, managerial and financial independence to universities,” Askhat Aimagambetov stressed. – The corporate governance system has been successfully implemented. Universities have been transformed into non-profit joint-stock companies. Boards of directors have been created. All these and many other reforms have played a decisive role in improving the quality of the educational process in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan.” The Minister of Education also spoke about plans to establish a specialty and the Al-Farabi program for 150 students from the countries of the Central Asian region (CA), as well as to allocate grants for PhD programs. “I also consider it relevant to create a Unified Union of Central Asian Students, and I think that during the forum we will have a wonderful opportunity to exchange views on this and a number of other initiatives,” the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan concluded his speech.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Rasul Abazbek uulu, Rector of the Tajik National University Khushvakhtzoda Khushvakht and others also spoke at the plenary session.

As the forum participants noted, the main priority of the rectors’ forum is the maximum development of multilateral relations between universities. This will create an atmosphere of mutual understanding between representatives of science and education, strengthen the process of internationalization of national higher education, expand student exchange and ways to develop academic mobility of teachers. In turn, this will create additional opportunities to promote a positive image of the country in the international arena and maintain national interests at the global level.

In connection with this event, the Al-Farabi Library organized a book exhibition.

Purpose of the exhibition: The purpose of this project is to increase the level of knowledge of student youth of the country in public and humanitarian sciences: history, politics, sociology, philosophy, psychology, culturology, religion, language, economics, management, entrepreneurship, innovation. Get acquainted with the books from the background of our library “new humanitarian knowledge. 100 new textbooks in the Kazakh language”, developed within the framework of the Ruhani zhangyru program.

A brief overview of the exhibition: New textbooks cover a wide range of knowledge in the field of world history, literary theory, international law, pedagogy, Internet psychology, strategic management, marketing, media and business communication, diplomacy and art history.
The project is aimed at increasing the readability of world scientific literature both among students studying in the Kazakh language and among the able-bodied population.

This is a stage that opens the horizons of human development through an extensive encyclopedic search. Today, thanks to a new impulse caused by the process of intellectual development, a spiritual revolution is beginning. Scientific knowledge is the main condition for the competitiveness of a modern nation. New textbooks are considered a real encyclopedia of knowledge. Today, not only the teaching method is important, but also its content. In this regard, the “Rukhani Zhangyru” program will allow implementing nationwide education for five years. The program “Rukhani zhangyru” is being implemented for the future of our youth. In this regard, it is very important that the younger generation actively participate in its implementation. Today we are once again convinced of the huge scientific and personnel potential that has developed over the years of independence.

The reading direction of the exhibition: Rectors of universities in Central Asia, library users – students and teaching staff, doctoral students, undergraduates, library staff, etc.

At the end of the forum, important bilateral program documents and agreements were signed between 19 universities of Central Asia and Kazakhstan. The recommendations of the forum on the development of the work plan of the Alliance of Universities of Central Asian Countries for 2022-2023 were also adopted.
