The national project “Кітап оқитын ұлт – Reading Nation”, initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is an important initiative aimed at developing a culture of reading in society, increasing reading activity, and fostering an educated and intellectually developed society.
Within the framework of this project, the Al-Farabi Library plans to organize the following activities aimed at promoting reading culture, increasing readers’ interest in literature, and strengthening interaction between the library and its readers:
1. “Reader of the Year” Competition
Objective: To promote reading culture, identify and recognize active readers, foster an intellectually stimulating environment among readers, and widely promote the values of the “Кітап оқитын ұлт – Reading Nation” project.
2. “Literary Wave” – Book Discussion
Objective: To develop a culture of book discussion among readers, enhance critical and creative analysis of literary works, and create opportunities for exchanging opinions and expressing thoughts freely.
3. “100 Books That Open the Way to Reflection”
Objective: To widely promote selected works of Kazakh and world literature included in the “Ұлт оқитын 100 кітап” project, introduce readers to valuable literary works, and prepare book reviews, videos, and informative content for social media.
4. “A Conversation in the World of Words” – Creative Meetings
Objective: To increase readers’ interest in literature through creative meetings with writers, poets, public figures, and intellectuals, as well as literary evenings and open meetings, thereby contributing to the development of a spiritually and intellectually enriching environment.
5. “Donate a Book to the Library” Campaign
Objective: To enrich the library collection, attract valuable and contemporary literature, expand readers’ access to various sources of knowledge, including printed publications, and foster a culture of book donation.
6. “KitapQuest” – Intellectual and Educational Game
Objective: To familiarize readers with the library’s collection and information resources, promote books and literary works through modern, interactive, and game-based formats, and increase readers’ cognitive and intellectual engagement.
7. “Librarians Day”
Objective: To organize activities dedicated to the National Book and Librarians’ Day, promote the professional work of library staff, enhance the social significance of the librarian profession, and strengthen interaction between the library and its readers.
