«Al-Farabi – Iqbal»:the revival of the historical memory of the Turkic world

An international forum dedicated to the study and promotion of the rich heritage of the thinkers of the Turkic world – Al-Farabi and Muhammad Iqbal has started in the Al-Farabi Scientific Library.

Forum organized by the Kazakh National University named after. Al-Farabi, the International Turkic Academy and the Permanent Commission for Scientific and Technical Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTEC), aims to revive the historical memory and civilization of the Turkic and Islamic peoples in the context of Eastern civilization, as well as to strengthen long-term cooperation in the field of science and technology between countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The large-scale event brought together scientists from the humanitarian sphere of the Turkic countries and members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, TURKSOY, scientists from the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations in Kazakhstan, as well as scientists from Turkey, Russia, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan.

As part of the forum, the guests of honor visited the Al-Farabi Museum, the book exhibition “Al-Farabi – the thinker of civilization”, as well as the presentation of the exhibition of painting and calligraphy by Pakistani artists.

Opening the forum, the Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Kazakh National University. Al-Farabi Zhanseit Tuymebayev focused on the importance of his mission and expressed confidence that it would become a large dialogue platform for the exchange of experience. The event opens the way to the study of the work of the famous thinker-philosopher of our time, the “spiritual leader” of Pakistan, Muhammad Iqbal. “The historical mission of today’s forum is to expand the horizons of young people through the teachings of Farabi and his followers.The contribution of Muhammad Iqbal to the revival of Islamic culture and spirituality is truly invaluable! This is a great poet and thinker who led the new Muslim Renaissance at the turn of the 20th century. The contribution of Muhammad Iqbal is to preserve and develop Muslim culture. This is a thinker with the broadest scientific horizons, educated at prestigious universities in the West. He is an example of high spirituality, philosophical depth and political responsibility.”

In connection with this event, the Library. Al-Farabi organized a book exhibition.

The purpose of the exhibition: to acquaint the Farabiites gathered at the forum, guests from abroad, students and readers with the works of the great thinker, philosopher Abu Nasr al-Farabi and Muhammad Iqbal, the Farabiites from the fund of the Al-Farabi library.

Al-Farabi traktattarynyn algashky basylymdary. The scientific heritage of Abu Nasyr al-Farabi is diverse and unique. He wrote more than 160 treatises, in which he developed all the fields of knowledge known at that time. Many positions of the scientist in the field of philosophy, sociology, logic, aesthetics, ethics, natural science had a great influence on the further development of the socio-philosophical thought of the peoples of the East and Europe.Getting acquainted with the aesthetic and theoretical views of Abu Nasir, one can better understand his legacy and era. This section presents the first treatises translated since 1992, one of them is devoted to two works of the great Turkic thinker of the Turkic steppes Abu Nasyr al-Farabi “The Great Prayer” and “From Bright Questions and Complete Answers”. in the 9th-10th centuries. The text of treatises, first translated and included in scientific circulation, was interpreted on the basis of the texts included in the book “Kitabu-l milla va nusus ukhra”, published in 1991 in Beitut.

Al-Farabi, who came from the Kazakh steppes and became the pride of our people, in his new treatises presented in part 2, introduces the theoretical, intellectual and ethical virtues necessary for human happiness, as well as practical sciences. The scientist explains the importance of education and upbringing in society and in the life of a person as a whole, a “perfect person”, a “high goal” in life, an “exemplary leader”, an “imam”, a “true philosopher” and others. comprehensively studies such concepts as The most important thing is that the sage expressed his famous concept in these treatises: “The person who should govern the state is the true philosopher.”

Al-Farabi murasy zhane kazyrgy zaman. In the 3rd part of the book exhibition, al-Farabi’s works in a foreign language were presented, along with the “Good City”, “The Book of Happiness”. His book The Good City is a collection of selected treatises that have attracted the attention of readers from all over the world. Today, the first in Kazakhstan and Central Asia scientific and innovative project “SMART CITY OF AL-FARABI UNIVERSITY” has started at our national university. The social ideal of Al-Farabi, which is based on universal spiritual values ​​- the idea of ​​a “Good City” – is undoubtedly an important spiritual and moral source of this project.

Uly shugys oishyldary. In the Middle Ages, there were significant differences between Western and Eastern countries. In the X-XII centuries, a Muslim renaissance took place in Central Asia and Iran. The ninth and tenth centuries are called the “golden age” of Muslim culture. This section presents the works of this “Muslim revival” and the great thinkers of the East, such as Al-Beruni, Omar Khayyam, Ibn Battuta, Ibn Rush, Ibn Sina and many other Eastern thinkers.

Al-Farabi zertteushylery. There are many great people in history. Few of them survived more than a thousand years. Abu Nasir al-Farabi, an outstanding thinker from the Kazakh steppes, is one such person. He was an encyclopedist, a brilliant philosopher, a gifted mathematician, an astrologer, a music theorist, a teacher who created the first constructive pedagogical system in the East. There are many researchers who have studied the so-called genius. One of the first were Akzhan Mashani, Agyn Kasymzhanov. In this section, in addition to these Farabian scientists, the works of Absattar Gadzhi Derbisali, A. Alimzhanov, A. Altaev, M. Khairullaev, M.S. Burabev and other researchers.

This section provides an overview of the works of domestic and foreign scientists who studied the work of al-Farabi, and also highlights the differences between the philosophy of al-Farabi and the views of thinkers of antiquity and modernity. The creative heritage of the great scientist Abu Nasir al-Farabi was considered.

Al-Farabi turaly dissertatcayalar.”Literary and scientific heritage of al-Farabi” T.S. Medetbaeva, defended at the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, “Ontological and methodological foundations of social cognition in the philosophical teachings of Abu Nasyr al-Farabi” A.D. Al-Farabi arnalgan merzymdy basylymdardyn gylumi konferentsiyalardyn materiyaldary. This section presents the materials of the Farabi readings, scientific conferences. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has been holding International Farabi Readings since 2013. It has already become a tradition to hold large-scale annual events at the leading Kazakh university. For nine years, the Farabi Readings have become popular among the scientific community and universities around the world, and have gained great popularity at the international level. Large-scale international scientific events held within the framework of the Farabi Readings are aimed at mobilizing the efforts of foreign and Kazakh scientists in solving global issues of the development of society, the state and the individual.
