Recently, at the Al-Farabi Library, as part of the event “Development of Ethics of Inclusive Communication” organized by the university’s scientific and practical center “Inclusive Environment,” the Society of the Blind of Kazakhstan donated six copies (270 spines) of five titles printed in Braille to the library.
At a seminar held on November 17, 2025, at the Al-Farabi Library, the head of the Republican Rehabilitation Center for People with Disabilities “Жылы ұя” of the Public Association “Қазақ соқырлар қоғамы” G. R. Balgozhina presented the library with five tablets with the Easy Reader application installed, on which 50 textbooks in audiobook and large print formats, accessible to students with special educational needs related to vision. The devices were donated as part of the project financing objectives of the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Marrakesh Treaty.
M. Zhakupov, a specialist at the “Жылы ұя” Center, introduced librarians to the possibilities of working with such book formats and the specifics of providing information and library services to students with special educational needs.
It should be noted that this project, aimed at supporting students with special educational needs related to vision, is being implemented for the first time at our university.
We look forward to receiving feedback and impressions from students with special educational needs regarding the use of these e-books.
The Al-Farabi Library will continue its work to develop an inclusive environment and ensure equal access to knowledge and information resources for all categories of users.
